Taiwan’s Machi Machi has opened its second Lower Mainland location at Union Square Plaza in Richmond, BC. To mark the opening of the new store, this location will serve the newest Japan’s Shizuoka Matcha Series on the menu.

Japan’s Shizuoka Matcha Series

Matcha is often produced in the Southern parts of Japan and Machi Machi’s newest series uses matcha from Shizuoka. The matcha powder is known as having a bitter, earthier flavour that pairs well with smoothies and baked goods.

Mochi Red Bean Brulee Matcha Smoothie 

The mochi red bean brûlée matcha smoothie is a mouthful to read and also contains a lot of ingredients. The matcha smoothie had a strong matcha taste and was well blended with very few icy particles. The addition of creme brûlée and red beans provided additional sweetness, which is why I chose 30% sweet.

I recommend adding mini taro balls to this drink or with the Black Milk Tea options. It had a perfect QQ chewy texture!

Black Milk Tea with Panna Cotta

Machi Machi’s iconic bottled drinks are definitely an experience with the bottom layer of panna cotta. The Black Milk Tea was fairly fragrant but I definitely preferred the Cream Foam version!
